General booster meeting, hear about the team’s victories, booster board updates, and start planning for next year! Join us from 5:30-7pm tomorrow for a meeting and happy hour! Can't wait to see you there!

April Tournaments and March Updates
Last month, 17 debaters traveled to Houston for the Texas Forensic Association State Tournament. We are so proud of these competitors!

The Speech and Debate season gets closer to an end this month, as 6 of our students travel to Kentucky for the Tournament of Champions. Thank you to Julie Steinhauser for volunteering to travel with us and judge!! Wish us luck in Kentucky!!

Showcase
Our annual recruitment event and fundraiser, Showcase will take place on Saturday, May 4th from 5:30-7pm here at the Anderson PAC!! Students will need to be at Anderson by 4:45pm.
Rehearsal schedule
Students need to be present for these rehearsals, please plan accordingly.
Thursday, May 2nd after school from 5-7pm
Friday, May 3rd during 8th period (students will be done by end of school, the absence will be excused)
Saturday, May 4th from 10am- 1pm.
Volunteers will be needed to greet, donate concessions, run the concession stand, and more! The boosters will send out more information about volunteer opportunities closer to Showcase.
A Brief Student Leadership Update
Last week, I uploaded google forms to Blend with self-nomination and recommendation forms for our 2024-25 Student Leadership Positions. The officer process for next school year includes the self-nomination form and an interview with Coach Contreras. Interviews will take place during and after school after we return from the Tournament of Champions. Officers for the next school year will be announced after Showcase!
Summer Camp!
Mark your calendars now for back-to-school Speech and Debate camp!
August Camp
This camp is for all current and incoming LC Anderson Speech and Debate team members (incoming 9th grades included!) and any other Anderson students interested in joining the team! This camp is completely free!
When: August 5-8, 9am-2pm

Kiddie Camp?
The booster board and I have bounced around the idea of running a kiddie camp over the summer. This would be open for ages 10-14(ish, still working on the details) and would have a fee. We think this could be a fantastic fundraiser for the team to do over the summer and most of the current students I've asked about it are interested in it!
This camp happening would depend upon your students being available to volunteer to run it. The tentative dates are July 8-11 (Mon- Thurs) and it would be here at Anderson, in the library.

P.S.
I forgot one of our victories from this year- UIL CX State!
Nate Watkins and Luke Schooler advanced to the UIL Cross-Examination (CX or Policy) Debate State Tournament. They competed over spring break at UT Austin. They advanced to the octofinals of the competition and Nate also earned 5th overall best speaker for the 6A division!
